Chandigarh-Lucknow, In a joint operation with the Uttar Pradesh Police, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has arrested two shooters from Indira Nagar, Lucknow. Both shooters were wanted in various cases in Punjab. The suspects have been identified as Bikramjit alias Vicky from village Sur Singh, Tarn Taran, and Punjab Singh from village Sandhara in the same district.
AAP Leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi Was Killed
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the two shooters were residing in a rented house in Lucknow provided by their foreign handlers and were executing crimes on their orders. According to the DGP, Vicky shot and killed Aam Aadmi Party leader Gurpreet Singh Gopi on March 1, 2024, near the Goindwal Sahib railway crossing in Tarn Taran district. He had been absconding for the past six months. Punjab Singh was also the main suspect in a triple murder in Ferozepur in September 2024.
Punjab Singh Linked to Triple Murder Case
On September 3, 2024, at around 12:50 PM, Dildeep Singh, Anmolpreet Singh, Jaspreet Kaur, Akashdeep, and Harpreet alias Jonty were traveling by car near Gurdwara Shri Akalgarh Sahib in Ferozepur when six unidentified assailants opened fire on them. In this incident, Dildeep Singh, his brother Akashdeep Singh, and his sister Jaspreet Kaur were killed, while Anmolpreet Singh and Harpreet Singh sustained injuries. Six of the accused in this case were arrested within a week from Aurangabad, Maharashtra, but the main accused, Punjab Singh, remained at large.
Both Shooters Have Extensive Criminal Records
DGP Yadav reported that both shooters have extensive criminal records. Vicky is charged in 12 cases, including murder, robbery, and under the NDPS Act, while Punjab Singh has four cases against him, including murder, the NDPS Act, the Arms Act, and rape. Authorities expect to recover weapons used in these crimes in the coming days.
Seized Items Include Pistols, Cartridges, and a Luxury Car
Lucknow ACP Anidya Vikram Singh confirmed that the Punjab Police has taken the suspects. Police seized a pistol, six cartridges, and a luxury car (PB-60 D 0036) from the accused. Lucknow Police are investigating who sheltered these criminals in Indira Nagar.
