On the night of November 3, a tragic accident occurred on the Chandigarh-Ambala Highway. Dr. Sandeep Nasiyer, a resident of Sector 7, was returning to Chandigarh with his family after celebrating Diwali. Near Shahabad, their car suddenly caught fire, trapping the entire family inside. The accident was so severe that Dr. Sandeep, along with his six-year-old daughter Pari and ten-year-old daughter Khushi, lost their lives.
Professor’s Wife Succumbs to Injuries Dr. Sandeep’s wife, Laxmi, and mother, Sudesh, were also seriously injured in the accident. On Sunday, Laxmi succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at PGI. A prayer meeting had been scheduled for Dr. Sandeep and his daughters on the same day but was canceled due to Laxmi’s passing.
Dr. Sandeep was a Professor of Civil Engineering Dr. Sandeep Nasiyer was a professor of civil engineering at Chandigarh University. He had received his PhD just two weeks before the accident. He was also close to Chandigarh University Chancellor and Rajya Sabha MP Satnam Singh Sandhu, who expressed deep sorrow over his death.
Dr. Sandeep and his daughters were seated in the back, which is why they were unable to escape in time. Satish Kumar, who was driving the car, made every effort to unlock it but was unsuccessful. By the time the doors opened, the family members were already engulfed in flames.
Brother’s Family Narrowly Escapes The family had been in Sonepat, their ancestral village, to celebrate Diwali. On their return, Dr. Sandeep was driving, with his brother Sushil in the passenger seat. Sushil’s wife and ten-year-old son were also in the car. Dr. Sandeep’s daughters, Khushi and Pari, were seated in the back.
Suddenly, smoke began to fill the car, followed by flames, trapping everyone inside. It took considerable effort to pull the family out of the vehicle. Dr. Sandeep and his daughters succumbed to suffocation, while his mother and brother’s family narrowly escaped. All the injured were taken to PGI.
