Police have arrested three youths and apprehended a juvenile in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Damanpreet Singh from Kumbhra. The arrests were made near the CRPF camp in Tilak Nagar, New Delhi. The suspects, identified as Aman Taak (19), Arun (22), and Akash (22), along with a juvenile, were produced in court and sent to police remand.
The murder occurred on November 13 following a minor provocation. A verbal altercation escalated when Akash, who had been hit by three youths on a cycle, returned with accomplices and attacked Damanpreet and his friend Dilpreet Singh (16) with sharp weapons. Damanpreet succumbed to his injuries, while Dilpreet remains in critical condition.
Protests erupted after the incident, with the victim’s family blocking traffic on Airport Road for three days, demanding justice. The road was finally cleared today after the family agreed to remove Damanpreet’s body, which had been placed at the protest site. His mortal remains were subsequently cremated.
The victim’s family has submitted a demand letter to the administration, seeking financial assistance and a government job for a family member. Police are still searching for two additional suspects involved in the case.
