Farmers of Punjab have blocked the Phagwara-Jalandhar National Highway. The National Highway has been closed from both sides by parking trolleys in the middle of the road. Farmers‘ organization has started a protest near Dhannowali in Jalandhar on Ludhiana-Jalandhar National Highway from 11 am on Monday.
Farmers are upset due to non-purchase of paddy in the markets. People from farmer organizations have gathered in large numbers and staged a protest. Farmers have announced to block the highway indefinitely.

Kulwinder Singh Machhiyana, District President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Sidhupur, said that the problems of farmers regarding procurement and lifting of paddy are increasing continuously. The government is reluctant to solve the problems.
They started protesting against the policies of the government by blocking the National Highway after village Dhannowali at 11 am on Monday. The protest will continue until the government starts lifting of paddy from the mandis. Due to this, people traveling on the highway will have to face problems.
Problems may increase due to late arrival of train
Due to farmers blocking the National Highway, movement can be done by trains, but due to work going on at Jalandhar Cantt station, more than 16 trains are diverted. Due to this, passengers may face problems.
Not only this, trains have also been running late for quite some time. Due to the impact of trains, passengers traveling to and from Nakodar route, Jalandhar to Ludhiana, Jammu face more problems.
Use these alternative routes
– Drivers coming from Amritsar and Pathankot can go towards Ludhiana and Delhi by taking the Jalandhar Cantt route from Jalandhar via Deepnagar.
– Drivers coming from Hoshiarpur side can come to the highway from Jalandhar city via Talharan Road and via underpass near Paragpur. This route will be beneficial for Jalandhar Cantt and nearby colonies including Dakoha.
-Similarly, traffic coming from Ludhiana can come via Paragpur underpass or Phillaur via Nakodar route.
