Panic erupted on Saturday night when an explosion occurred on train number 13006, traveling from Amritsar to Howrah, near Sirhind Railway Station in Punjab. Four passengers, including a woman, were injured in the incident. The injured were promptly taken to the Civil Hospital in Fatehgarh Sahib, where their condition is reported to be stable.
GRP DSP Jagmohan Singh provided information on the incident, identifying the injured passengers as Ajay Kumar, his wife Sangeeta Kumari, Ashutosh Pal, and Sonu Kumar. Preliminary investigations suggest that firecrackers stored in a bucket on the train ignited unexpectedly, causing a fire and explosion. This resulted in burns for some passengers.
Dr. Kanwaldeep Singh, Senior Medical Officer at Fatehgarh Sahib Civil Hospital, stated that all injured passengers are in stable condition and are receiving treatment. Following the explosion, fear spread among the passengers, who attempted to flee for safety.
A passenger on the train, Rakesh Pal, recounted the chaotic scene in the compartment after the blast. The GRP is conducting a detailed investigation and looking into the reason why firecrackers were brought onto the train.
