An encounter is going on between security forces and terrorists near the Line of Control (LOC) in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army confirmed the incident on Sunday.
According to the official social media post of Chinar Corps, a joint anti-infiltration operation has been launched in the area. Based on intelligence inputs about possible infiltration, a joint anti-infiltration operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in Uri general area of the LoC. Alert troops detected and challenged suspicious activities, resulting in indiscriminate firing by the terrorists. The alert troops responded with effective firing. The operation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Police has arrested two terrorists from Poonch district. Jammu and Kashmir Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain told ANI on Saturday that the arrests have helped in solving several grenade attack cases.
Anand Jain said, we have achieved a major success as we have arrested two terrorists who had carried out activities like throwing grenades and putting up anti-national posters and grenades at Gurudwaras, temples, hospitals and army positions. Where the terrorists aimed to disrupt the communal harmony of the area.
Earlier on Friday, security forces apprehended a person linked to a terrorist in the Dundak area of the Surankote sector. Police confirmed that four grenades were recovered from the suspect, which could be a significant advance in solving recent terrorist incidents.
And on Friday, the body of migrant laborer Ashok Chauhan from Bihar was found with bullet wounds in Shopian district.
