In the much talked about Dhillon Brothers suicide case of Kapurthala, Punjab, even after 14 months, the Kapurthala police has not been able to present the challan. Due to which now the complainant has questioned the working style of the police. At the same time, the allegation of the complainant taking a U-turn by the victim’s family has also been termed as false. This claim has been made by complainant Manav Uppal in a press conference with the media in Kapurthala. Manav has also raised questions on the DNA test conducted to identify the body of Jashnpreet Singh.
In the case of Dhillon Brothers (Jashnpreet Singh and Manavjit Singh) committing suicide by jumping from Goindwal bridge in August 2023 and the suspension of Jalandhar Police Inspector Navdeep Singh, complainant Manav Uppal revealed that action was taken by registering the statement given to him by the victim’s family.
However, in the current situation, the family is washing its hands off the matter and is struggling alone to get justice in this case, because Manavjit and Jashnpreet were his close friends. At the same time, he held a press conference in Jalandhar on 24 October 2024. The very next day, the police has sent the DNA sample of the family for re-examination.
While Kapurthala police has already conducted DNA test, its report has neither been told to me (plaintiff) nor presented in the court yet. Complainant Manav Uppal raised questions on Kapurthala police and said that even after 14 months of investigation, the challan has not been presented yet and no disclosure has been made regarding Jashnpreet’s DNA report. What kind of investigation is pending in 14 months that neither the DNA report has been presented till now nor the challan of the case has been presented.
Sending DNA sample again by the police is a big question on the working style of the police, which proves that there is something fishy. If the DNA report taken earlier is a mismatch, then whose body was found a few days after the incident? At the same time, the press conference held by him in Jalandhar has also been misled and the family has accused him of taking a U-turn, which is completely false.
Manav Uppal said that he is still with the victim’s family and is fighting for justice and will continue to do so, but Jashnpreet should lead the case and I will always be with them for justice.
