A meeting regarding paddy procurement was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. After the meeting, Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak said that till now 24 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have reached the markets of the state. Out of this, 22 lakh metric tonnes of paddy have been purchased. So far 4.12 lakh metric tonnes of paddy has been lifted from the mandis. In place of this, compensation of Rs 4 thousand crore has been made.
CM made four important decisions in the meeting
1. RO fees reduced from Rs 50 to Rs 10.
2. Under BRL, the shellers against whom any case, court case or any complaint of CBI or other investigating agency is pending can work through their sister company or guaranteed or guarantor, this will provide space to 200 new shellers in Punjab.
3. New millers will also be allowed to lift paddy in adequate quantity like the old ones.
4. Now clusters will be formed in every district. Any miller will be able to pick up paddy from anywhere within his cluster.
